The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-choice test that helps you better understand your strengths. Your scores in four critical areas - - Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension and Mathematics Knowledge - - count towards your Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT) score. The AFQT score determines whether you're qualified to enlist in the U. S. military. Your scores in the other areas of the ASVAB will determine how qualified you are for certain military occupational specialties and enlistment bonuses. A high score will improve your chances of getting the specialty/job and signing bonus you want.

Even if you do not plan on going into the armed forces the ASVAB gives students some good information on careers and career planning.

The following fact sheet that tells a little bit more about the ASVAB but if you have further questions you may want to check out the official ASVAB site or visit with Ms. Schmit.
